An important part of a good date is the activity you choose, here are five different date ideas that are both inexpensive and highly interactive.
Antique Hunting
Take your date on a stroll through history in local antique shops, together you can learn about history as items from yesteryear continually bring conversations topics to mind. You can learn a lot about a person by seeing what types of things appeal to them. Antique hunting helps keep the conversation moving as you continually find interesting objects that may remind you of ancestors or of past experiences. It can be a good way to start learning about one another’s heritage.
Visiting an Arboretum or Public Gardens
If you are a guy, you should know most women like flowers. If you are a girl, you should know most men like bugs – well at least they did when they were young. Nevertheless visiting a public garden is both interesting and educational. Public gardens typically offer beautiful landscaping or undisturbed natural scenery, interesting plants and flowers and occasional views of native wildlife. Often these gardens have visitor’s centers where you can learn about the varieties of plants you will find in the garden. These visitor’s centers may have displays, presentations, free information and other literature available. Use the information you find in the visitors centers to help you identify the plants you come across in the gardens.
Candle Making
You will need to prepare for this date a bit by getting some supplies at a local craft store. There are several types of candles you can make such as hand dipped, molded and rolled candles. You can get creative by placing your candles in a variety of objects and incorporating various colors and fragrances. Candle making is a good way to gain insight into your dates preferences and creativity.
Decorating T-Shirts
You can start this date out by taking a trip to the craft store together. You will need to pick up a couple of inexpensive t-shirts and a few supplies for you and your date. This date lends itself very well to holiday themes or any common interest the two of you may share. You can decorate your shirts with fabric ink applied with pens or foam stamps, iron on transfers, tie-dyeing, stencils and other techniques. A local craft store should be able to provide several interesting possibilities. If you discover you enjoy spending time with your date, wear the shirts you made on your second date.
Clay Modeling Crafts and Games
Make jewelry, designs, pottery or other useful or interesting items – an active imagination can add lots of great alternatives to this kind of a date. You don’t need any fancy equipment to make pottery and model with clay; there are many oven bake clays available today that are very easy to work with. Those with tighter budgets can opt for play-doh or even home-made dough. You can reuse the dough or clay in other dates and group activities as well, such as playing charades and other word guessing games by using clay hints in lieu of giving verbal clues. This type of an activity is sure to give you bonus points for creativity.
